Special Purpose Machines

Special Purpose Machine tools are made to do specific machining tasks, usually for production.

Unlike standard machines, SPMs (Special Purpose Machines) machines are not readily available off the shelf. Standard production programmes do not cover these. As a result, things must be built and tailored to the individual needs of the customer. Bespoke machinery is another name for them. To meet the demanding circumstances in the globalised world economy, there has always been a long-felt need to improve product quality, reduce rejection, and raise productivity per worker in the manufacturing process.

Gear-cutting and gear-grinding machines, broaching machines, lapping and honing machines, and boring machines are a few examples of SPM.
